Strength and conditioning in Waterford

Performance coaching for athletes and for anyone who wants training measured by what their body can do, not just how it looks.

The approach

Training designed around performance

Strength and conditioning starts with a question most gym programmes skip: what does your sport, or your life, actually demand of you?

From there the plan is built in reverse — the qualities that need developing, the order they're developed in, and the testing that proves it worked. Exercise selection is a consequence of that plan, not the starting point.

That's the practical difference between following a workout and following a programme. It's also why performance coaching tends to carry over into everything else: fewer niggles, better movement, more capacity.

What we develop

The performance qualities

Strength

Maximal and relative strength as the base for everything else.

Power

Jumps, throws and loaded power work to express force quickly.

Speed

Acceleration, top speed and deceleration coached as skills.

Mobility

Range of motion where you need it, stability where you need that instead.

Conditioning

Energy-system work matched to the demands of your sport.

Performance testing

Baselines and retests, so progress is measured rather than assumed.

Programming

Progressive, periodised, reviewed

Blocks, not weeks

Training runs in blocks with a clear purpose, each one building on the last and planned around your season or your schedule.

Managed load

Gym work is set against pitch, court or track volume so total fatigue stays productive.

Regular review

Numbers, video and how you actually feel all feed into the next block.

Strength and conditioning FAQ

What's the difference between S&C and normal gym training?

Conventional gym training usually targets appearance or general fitness. Strength and conditioning is built backwards from performance: the qualities your sport demands, tested and progressed on a timeline.

Do I have to be a competitive athlete?

No. Plenty of clients simply want to be strong, fast and durable. The same principles apply, with the targets set around your life rather than a fixture list.

Do you test performance?

Yes. Baseline testing depends on your sport and may include strength numbers, jump tests, sprint times and movement screening.

Can you work with a team or squad?

Squad and small-group work can be arranged. Get in touch through the application form with the details of your team and season.

Ready to start?

Tell me where you are now and what you want to achieve. If I think I can help, we'll talk through the right coaching option for you.
